What is Physical Rehabilitation?

Physical rehabilitation is a method widely used at Winter Park Chiro to aid in the recovery from your injury. Types of treatment that are grouped into this category all focus on improving biomechanics through proper function of joints and soft tissues in the body.

How do I know if Physical Rehabilitation is for me?

Our doctors will help you determine if physical rehabilitation is right for you. Not everyone is a candidate, but the vast majority of our patients undergo some form of active at home care. Learning the tools to take care of yourself.

After we help guide you through your program, we will review the exercises you should do daily to prevent the same problems from recurring again!

No treatment program is a like, for any service at Winter Park Chiro. It’s often that you won’t go through the same procedures each time you attend an appointment at our offices!

Our doctors perform regular evaluations to update your care plan and to appropriately adapt your physical rehabilitation program.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in sports medicine and rehabilitation. Its main usage is gaining faster pain relief as well as restoring mobility to areas of the body. This is a non-surgical approach which makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and aid in treating various acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries.

How does Shockwave Work?

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with acute or chronic conditions. The energy from the Shockwave promotes accelerated healing though the soft-tissue such as tendons, ligaments which allows for an increase in cellular energy, decreases pain, increases mobility and aids in collagen restoration to that area.

Does this work on Trigger points?

YES!

Constant “knots” in your shoulders, neck, mid-back? Have you tried everything, and they are still causing you issues? We may have a solution for you.

These muscle “knots” are palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers and have extremely contracted and don’t want to let go of that contraction leading to pain, tension and a decrease of mobility and blood flow to that area. The dysfunctional trigger points are so tightly contracted that they begin to cut off their own blood supply. This causes the waste products to build up. Waste product build-up irritates the sensory nerve endings which then causes even more contraction. This vicious cycle is referred to as “metabolic crisis”. The mechanism of the Shockwave is that it delivers acoustic energy which will release the trigger point thus increasing blood flow, flexibility, mobility as well as decreasing pain.

Normatec Compression Therapy

What is Normatec?

The NormaTec PULSE Recovery Systems that are used at Winter Park Chiro are dynamic compression devices designed for sports medicine and recovery purposes. NormaTec’s patented PULSE technology is used to help our patients and athletes recover faster between trainings and after performance.

How Do They Work?

Normatec Compression Boots apply a modulated, gradient pressure to the legs and feet during 15-30 minute sessions. Unlike over-the-counter compression gear — such as socks, bands and sleeves — that provides a continuous squeeze to a particular area, Normatec Recovery Boots contract and release with a prescribed pressure that gently courses up and down the legs. This not only improves circulation in the lower extremities, it pushes blood back to the heart more effectively while helping rid the body of built-up lactic acid and lymphatic fluids. We have multiple units from arms/shoulders, hips/core as well as the classic leg unit. At Winter Park Chiro we can recovery the entire body.

Studies show it can help relieve muscle aches and/or pain and temporarily increase circulation resulting in increased flexibility and range of motion, injury prevention, and accelerated recovery time

Here are some benefits of using the Normatec Compression units.

Increases circulation
Reduces inflammation & muscle tension
Improve flexibility & range of motion
Lower recovery time
