Winter Park Chiro is proud to be one of the few offices to offer Spinal Decompression therapy in the Orlando area. Spinal Decompression therapy is designed to help patients who suffer from disc problems including bulging discs, herniated discs, or degenerated discs in the neck and low back. Symptoms of these can include neck, back, arm, wrist, or leg pain as well as numbness, tingling and sciatica. This evidence-based therapy offers a high success rate in conservatively managing or resolving these issues, especially when combined with corrective chiropractic care and spinal rehabilitation.

If you are looking for spinal decompression therapy schedule a consultation with Dr. Brett Chance or Dr. Cloe Barnes to see if this is the right therapy and conservative management for you. Book Now

How is our Spinal Decompression Therapy Different?

We utilize the Leander Flexion Distraction Table which is one of the most sophisticated traction systems available. This unique system allows for a wide variety of patient positions (face down, face up, and side lying) paired with motorized traction to maximize both patient comfort and disc decompression.

Do I Qualify for Spinal Decompression?

While not all patients qualify for this type of care, Spinal Decompression therapy is ideal for patients who have disc problems that keep them from participating in activities they enjoy and prevent them from achieving their health and wellness goals. This therapy can take them to next level in healing and avoiding invasive procedures such as spinal injections (steroid epidurals) or surgery. You will need to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors to see if you qualify for this treatment.

Common Questions & Answers About Spinal Decompression Therapy
What conditions does Spinal Decompression treat?

Spinal Decompression therapy is an innovative and non-surgical treatment for disc injuries resulting in neck, back, and limb pain.  Spinal Decompression Therapy is designed to help patients who suffer from disc problems including disc bulge, disc herniation, disc protrusion, annular tears, formainal stenosis, degenrative disc disease  in the neck (cervical spine) or low back (lumbar spine). Symptoms may include neck or back pain, arm, leg pain or numbness. This may include painful sciatica, numbness in the legs or feet, or numbing carpal tunnel like symptoms. Spinal decompression also benefits individuals with facet syndrome, where the spinal joints are inflamed and not functioning well.

How does Spinal Decompression work and what will I feel?

The way our spinal discs receive blood flow (which increases disc height and health) is from the compress and release motion it experiences from our normal day-to-day upright movements. Over time or due to injury, those disc heights can start to decrease which is what leads to pain.

Our Spinal Decompression table is a gentle, safe, and controlled form of traction specifically designed for spinal pain relief. The table looks similar to a standard chiropractic table, but it can flex and side-flex, allowing patients to receive traction relief in a non-weight bearing fashion.

The patient will lie on their stomach while the doctor gently flexes and stretches the spinal segments and muscles around the affected region. The beauty of this tool is that the patient does not have to engage any muscles or soft tissues. By eliminating all active movements by the patient, the doctor has the ability to stretch these structures without spasm or reaction from the body.

Are there conditions where Spinal Decompression Therapy is not indicated?

Every person’s body and medical history are unique. Only after a consultation with one of our chiropractors can we determine if Spinal Decompression therapy is not indicated for you.

What if I am currently under care with my medical doctor, neurologist, orthopedic, physical therapist, or another chiropractor for my disc problem?

Spinal decompression therapy can enhance other treatments you are currently receiving from other health care providers. We look forward to co-managing your case with your other physicians in order to provide the best possible, integrative care that can address your needs from all aspects.

How much does it cost?

The cost and duration of the treatment will depend on the patient’s condition and can only be determined after a consultation with one of our chiropractors.
