Rehabilitative taping helps facilitate the soft tissue while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without compromising range of motion.
Kinesiotape provides an increase to the skin’s surface area to help alleviate pain, promote blood flow and lymph drainage to the tissue being supported. Kinesiotape can be worn for up to 3-5 days.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is an evidence-based form of therapy that allows Dr. Chance to effectively break down the buildup of scar tissue and to initiate an inflammatory response which will aide in proper healing of the tissue. The stainless-steel instruments provide us with the ability to locate restrictions and allow treating of the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure.
Conditions Treated by Manual Muscle Release and IASTM:
• IT Band Pain/ Runners Knee
• Plantar Fasciitis
• Carpal Tunnel
• Shoulder Pain
• Knee Pain
• Tennis/Golfers Elbow
• Shin Splints
• And more
Interferential Current Therapy
Interferential Current Therapy is an effective therapy method utilized to relieve pain and accelerate the self¬-healing process. It is a deeper form of electrical stimulation. To perform this method of treatment, electrodes are placed on the skin around the injured body part. An Interferential Current device is then used, which transmits electrical impulses in specific quantities throughout your skin. Underlying tissue and nerves become stimulated which begins the healing properties.
Interferential Current Therapy is used to treat:
• Circulatory and muscle disorders
• Stiff joints
• Joint injuries
• Muscle spasms
Advantages of Interferential Current Therapy include:
• Reducing or eliminating pain in a safe manner
• Noticeable decrease in swelling and inflammation
• Restoring lost movement and improving range¬-of¬-motion
• Stimulating the natural hormones which can help the body heal faster
Additionally, Interferential Current Therapy also assists in blood circulation and rushes recovery by stimulating endorphins.
Therapeutic Ultra Sound
Therapeutic ultrasound is utilized for injuries related to most soft tissues, joints and muscle spasms. While it shares the same name, this ultrasound is not the same as that used diagnostically to screen the body internally.
What is Therapeutic Ultrasound?
An ultrasound involves high frequency mechanical vibrations that produce changes in the tissue through wave formation and heat. Ultrasound accelerates the normal resolution time of the inflammatory process by attracting more mast cells to the site of injury, which can be beneficial in the acute phase of tissue damage. It also allows for the breakdown of calcium deposits, promotes tissue relaxation, and brings local blood flow to the site of treatment.
How Does Therapeutic Ultrasound Work?
While its effects and goals are different from ultrasound screening technologies, ultrasound therapy is implemented in much the same way. The process may be familiar if you’ve ever had an ultrasound screening in the past.
An ultrasound emitting ‘wand’ will be passed over your skin across the pain point or injury. We will apply ultrasound gel to your skin to reduce friction and allow for better transmission of the ultrasound waves. Despite the deep-¬tissue heat applied during the therapy, you typically will feel little or no heat at all.
Therapeutic ultrasound has been shown to facilitate the body’s healing process at the most basic cellular level. Contact our office today to discuss whether therapeutic ultrasound may be beneficial to you on your road to recovery.
It helps to improve blood circulation, flexibility and reduce tissue repair time. In addition to athletes, compression therapy would be of great help to individuals whose mobility and activity have been limited either because of chronic issues or injuries.
It involves the use of our compression devices that are designed for recovery or rehabilitation.
Effects on Tissue:
• Decreases Elevated Edema of the Tissue (Swelling)
• Increases Drainage of Toxic Substances Like Lactic Acid
• Decreases Inflammation
• Sustains Reparative Processes
• Improves Movement of Tendons and Joints
Compression therapy is easy, convenient, safe and painless. The therapy assists your body’s cardiac system in moving the fluids from the limbs back to the circulatory system, which in turn removes the unwanted material
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT IN A COMPRESSION THERAPY SESSION?
To start, you will be asked to sit in our anti-gravity recliner. Then the compression devices would be applied. Your legs or shoulder will be kept elevated so that gravity also helps in circulating the body fluids.
You should plan to spend about 15-20 minutes for a compression therapy appointment.
